If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the UK GDPR, and related privacy laws.
What We Collect and Why
Google Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google. We use this information solely to identify your account and associate your calendar display with you.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of our contract with you.
Google Calendar Data
With your explicit permission, we access your Google Calendar in read-only mode. We do not create, edit, or delete events. We only access the specific calendars you choose during setup.
To keep your display synced, we securely store a Google refresh token in encrypted form on our servers. This allows your display to stay updated without requiring repeated sign-in.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of our contract with you.
Device Information
We generate and store a unique device token for each paired display. This token allows your kitchen tablet or other display device to securely fetch your calendar data without storing your Google credentials on the device itself.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of our contract with you; legitimate interests in maintaining service security and preventing unauthorized access.
Settings and Preferences
We store your selected settings and preferences, including calendar selections, display settings, weather location, time format, and similar configuration choices, so the service functions as you configured it.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of our contract with you.
Payment Information
If you subscribe to Go Check the Fridge, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number or full payment details on our own servers. We store only your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and related billing metadata necessary to manage your subscription.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of our contract with you; legitimate interests in billing administration and fraud prevention.
Weather Data
We use Open-Meteo to retrieve weather forecasts for your configured location. We store your chosen location coordinates solely to provide local weather information in the app. We do not use this information for cross-site tracking or advertising.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of our contract with you.
Customer Support and Communications
If you contact us directly, we may collect your email address and the contents of your message in order to respond to your request, provide support, or address account-related issues. We may also use your email address to send account-related messages, such as setup confirmations, security notices, subscription updates, service announcements, and support responses. We do not send marketing or promotional emails unless you separately opt in.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR): legitimate interests in operating, supporting, and securing the service; performance of our contract with you where the request relates to service delivery.
