Terms of Service

Welcome to Go Check the Fridge. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Go Check the Fridge website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Go Check the Fridge is a family calendar display app that allows users to connect a Google account, select calendars, and display calendar information on a paired household device, such as a wall-mounted tablet.

The Service may also provide related features such as display preferences, subscription management, and weather information based on your selected location.

Google Calendar access is read-only. Go Check the Fridge does not create, modify, or delete your Google Calendar events through the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account or subscribe to the Service.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:

• You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms
• You are authorized to connect any Google account and calendars you use with the Service
• You will use the Service only in compliance with applicable law

3. Accounts and Access

To use certain features, you may need to sign in with your Google account and pair one or more display devices.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining control of devices paired to your account
• Ensuring that people with access to your household display are authorized to view the calendar information shown there
• Providing accurate account and billing information
• Promptly disconnecting or unpairing devices you no longer control

You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account or paired devices, except to the extent caused by our own security failure or misconduct.

4. Google Account and Calendar Access

By connecting your Google account, you authorize Go Check the Fridge to access the Google account information and Google Calendar data you specifically permit during setup.

You acknowledge and agree that:

• Calendar access is limited to the calendars you select
• Access is read-only
• You may revoke access at any time through your Google account permissions
• Revoking access may disable some or all Service functionality until you reconnect your account

Use of information received from Google APIs is governed by our Privacy Policy and will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including applicable Limited Use requirements.

5. Subscription, Billing, and Auto-Renewal

Go Check the Fridge is billed per paired display device. Each paired display may include a 14-day free trial beginning when pairing is completed.

Paid access is offered in three tiers:

• Monthly plan: $1.99 per month, auto-renewing until canceled
• Annual plan: $9.99 per year, auto-renewing until canceled
• Lifetime Pass: $19.99 one-time purchase for that display

If you subscribe to a paid plan for a display, you agree that:

• You will pay the fees disclosed at checkout for that device, plus applicable taxes. Promotional pricing applies only as disclosed at checkout and does not change the standard renewal price unless the offer states otherwise
• Payments are processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers
• Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date
• For monthly and annual plans, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on file for recurring subscription fees and applicable taxes until you cancel
• Price changes will apply to future billing periods after reasonable notice, as required by law

You will receive a receipt by email from Stripe for each successful charge. The renewal date and amount for subscriptions are shown in your device management dashboard and in Stripe’s customer billing records.

5A. Lifetime License

A “Lifetime” license grants access for the operational lifespan of GoCheckTheFridge. GoCheckTheFridge reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without liability. One-time purchases do not guarantee perpetual server hosting or third-party API compatibility in perpetuity.

A Lifetime Pass is licensed per paired display. It is not a family-wide license, is not transferable except as required by law, and does not require a recurring subscription as long as the Service continues to operate for that display.

6. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the device management dashboard at https://gocheckthefridge.com/P/manage or through the Stripe Customer Portal when billing is enabled for your account.

Cancellation stops future automatic renewals. Your paid subscription remains active through the end of the current billing period for which you have already been charged. We do not provide prorated refunds for unused time within a billing period after cancellation, except as stated in our Refund Policy below or where required by law. A Lifetime Pass is not a recurring subscription and is not canceled on a renewal cycle.

Unpairing or deleting a display does not by itself cancel a subscription. Cancel the subscription for that device if you no longer wish to be billed.

7. Refund Policy

Except where required by law, subscription fees are non-refundable once charged, and we do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

If you are dissatisfied with your first paid charge for a specific display, contact us at support@gocheckthefridge.com within seven (7) days of that charge and we will review a one-time refund of that first payment for that device. This guarantee does not apply to renewal charges or to accounts that have previously received a refund.

To request a refund or billing help, email support@gocheckthefridge.com with the email address on your account and the display name or device you are contacting us about.

8. Free Trials and Promotional Offers

We may offer free trials, discounts, or promotional pricing from time to time. Unless otherwise stated at checkout, each newly paired display includes a 14-day free trial beginning when pairing is completed. Such offers may be subject to additional terms presented at the time of the offer.

The free trial does not require a payment method. When the trial ends, calendar access on that display pauses until you choose a monthly plan, an annual plan, or a Lifetime Pass.

We may modify or terminate promotional offers at any time, subject to applicable law.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, accounts, tokens, systems, or networks
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, security, or performance of the Service
• Reverse engineer, decompile, copy, scrape, or attempt to extract source code or underlying logic from the Service, except where prohibited by law from restricting such rights
• Use the Service in a way that violates the rights of others, including privacy or intellectual property rights
• Circumvent subscription, device, or access controls
• Use automated means to access the Service in a manner that imposes unreasonable load or risk

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for violations of these Terms or to protect the security, integrity, or operation of the Service.

10. Your Content and Data

You retain your rights in your own content and data, including your Google Calendar data.

You grant Go Check the Fridge a limited, non-exclusive, revocable authorization to access, process, transmit, and display your selected data solely as necessary to provide the Service to you.

We do not claim ownership of your calendar events, account content, or settings.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, interfaces, and other content provided by Go Check the Fridge, is owned by or licensed to Go Check the Fridge and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your personal or internal household use.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or exploit any part of the Service except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy: https://gocheckthefridge.com/privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, stored, and shared, including information obtained through Google account sign-in and Google Calendar integration.

13. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Google (authentication and calendar access), Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and authentication), the U.S. National Weather Service (weather data via api.weather.gov), Open-Meteo (location lookup), and Vercel (hosting).

We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, policies, outages, or practices. Your use of third-party services may also be governed by those third parties’ own terms and privacy policies. Interruptions or errors in Google Calendar, Stripe, Supabase, NWS, or other integrated services may affect Service availability or accuracy without liability to us, subject to the disclaimers and limitation of liability below.

14. Availability and Changes

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, including features, integrations, pricing, or subscription plans.

We do not guarantee that the Service, or any feature of the Service, will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or browser.

We may release updates, fixes, or changes that affect how the Service operates.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may also cancel your subscription at any time, subject to the billing terms above.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately or at any time if:

• You violate these Terms
• Continued access creates legal, security, or operational risk
• We are required to do so by law or by a third-party provider relationship necessary to operate the Service

Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Service will end
• We may revoke device access and disconnect synced functionality
• Certain data may remain subject to our retention practices described in the Privacy Policy

16. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Go Check the Fridge disclaims all warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranties arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.

Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Calendar, weather, or billing data will always be complete, accurate, or current
• Third-party APIs (including Google Calendar and the U.S. National Weather Service) will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Defects will be corrected on any specific schedule
• The Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Go Check the Fridge and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunity, or use, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms, including outages or errors of third-party services such as Google, Stripe, Supabase, or the U.S. National Weather Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of Go Check the Fridge for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms shall not exceed:

• For a Lifetime Pass, the one-time amount you paid for that license (currently $19.99)
• For monthly or annual subscriptions, the greater of the amount you paid to Go Check the Fridge for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or 50 U.S. dollars

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

18. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Go Check the Fridge and its operator from and against claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to:

• Your misuse of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of applicable law
• Your infringement of another person’s rights

19. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

If you are a consumer residing outside the United States, you may have mandatory legal rights under your local law that cannot be limited by these Terms.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice by posting the updated Terms at https://gocheckthefridge.com/terms, updating the “Last updated” date, or by other reasonable means.

Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
